Being a mom has been one of the most exciting adventures I have experienced in my entire life. There are days that are long...oh so very long...but there is never a day that goes by in which I don't feel blessed to be this little boy's Mama. (It helps that he's so stinkin' cute too!)
I feel even more blessed that I am able to stay at home with him. It is a privilege that I hope I never take for granted.
While I have Grayson at home, and for the other children that will be added to our family one day, I hope to create an environment here at home that cultivates creativity, imagination, love, adventure and demonstrates who God is.
I found this quote this week that perfectly summarizes the type of household I strive to create for my family: "The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully." - Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood.
That's a big undertaking, but I feel that as parents that is what we are called to do. However, it is something that Adam and I cannot do alone. It will take the supernatural moving of God's handiwork in our lives. Isn't it good to know that God has everything under control. Even on those days when we feel like as parents we have no idea what we're doing? Amen.
In other news...Grayson now has two teeth, is completely obsessed with pureed tofu (I'm not kidding...he can't get enough of it), is crawling on his knees, and has become so fast about getting across that room that I believe I'll be buying a baby gate very soon.

Oh Kyla,
ReplyDeleteI love this! Sally's books are my absolute favorites and have ministered to my heart so much over the years! This is such a noble work that you are doing each day...touching lives and generations for eternity. I am so thankful for you, for the way you love Grayson and the vision you have for your home.
Did you know when I was just in Colorado it was to go to her Leader Intensive Training? It was kind of a dream to be able to sit at the feet of so many amazing leaders and learn SO much! Sally and her youngest daughter Joy are coming to stay with us for a few days in October and I can not wait to have them in our apartment drinking buckets of tea and talking and playing with the kids. I'm so glad you found her books :)
Love you!
