I have admittedly fallen way behind in posting. We have had some major life changes happening in our house, but I have let the blog fall to the wayside while other priorities have been put in place. However, I am back and hoping to be a little more diligent about setting aside time for this little blog journal.
Many months ago we were thrilled to discover that our family of three was becoming a family of four! That's right, we are expecting a little baby to join our family in October!
The night we found out will forever be a precious memory to me. We had been trying for awhile to get pregnant, and many months of thinking I was pregnant only to be faced with a negative sign made me hesitant to take a test that month. However, I didn't want to go another day without knowing so I took the last test I had left...it looked like two lines, but I wasn't really sure. I frantically raced out of the house to buy a digital test. Once back at home, I took the test while both Adam and Grayson waited in the other room...
A "pregnant" result stared back at me! All three of us began jumping, dancing and laughing around the room. Grayson really had no idea what was going on, but he knew that Mommy and Daddy were happy and that was enough for him!
Never ones to be able to hold in a secret for long, we decided to go tell my parents that night. We hid in the bushes while Grayson rang the doorbell holding a note that said, "I'm going to be a big brother!". They were shocked and thrilled!
We told the rest of our family soon after, and were even able to tell Adam's parents in person since they had already planned a trip down to visit.
This all happened in February. Fast-forward through several weeks of morning sickness, lots of napping whenever Grayson slept, our first visit to the doctor when we saw our little peanut and heard that strong reassuring heartbeat...to June. June 7, 2012 to be exact. Our 20 week ultrasound. Adam, Grayson, my mom, Joan (who had flown down for the occasion), Katelyn, Kerry and Christian all piled into the small ultrasound room. We gawked at the screen where we watched the tech take measurements of the baby. She had been working for awhile, and everyone started talking amongst themselves. At a moment when I was the only one watching the screen, she wrote these amazing words,
"It's a...GIRL!!!"
I shouted, "It's a girl!!!". My mom said, "What? How do you know?" I told them to look at the screen. Wow. A girl. I love that I was the first to know.
I truly was excited to have either a boy or a girl this time. I love my sweet boy, and being the Mommy of a boy has been more exciting than I ever imagined. But there is something oh so sweet about having a girl. I am thrilled. We all are!
Baby girl Lewis will be making her debut on October 23, 2012 (and not a day later if I have any say in the matter! Haha!).
