Halloween

On Halloween we went over to my parents house for the traditional chili dinner. For as long as I can remember we've been having chili on Halloween. This year it was particularly rainy and cold, so chili was perfect. Katelyn, Kerry and Christian also stopped by.

Have you ever seen a cuter dinosaur? Or was he a dragon? I'm not sure we ever decided.

Makenna was a kitty cat. She has been so alert, and loves to make eye contact.

Grayson LOVES Christian.

I loved watching Christian scoot around with his tail sticking up.

Our family. A doctor, kitty cat, fireman and superhero. Grayson picked out all of the costumes. :) You can't really tell from this picture, but Adam was wearing a t-shirt cape from Grayson's dress up drawer. Grayson was SO excited about being a fireman. He's been talking about it for months. I found this costume at Costco and snatched it up quite awhile ago. We let Grayson wear it a little bit at home, and the only way we could get him to take it off was to tell him we had to hang it up like the real firefighters do. We hung it up in his closet so it would be ready if a fire started and a fireman was needed.

My little kitty cat. She slept for most of the night.

This was my first Halloween without being able to call my Grandma Lily for her witch cackle. It was something we've always done. She had the BEST cackle! It made me miss her today.

After dinner we went over to the Swedberg's house for some trick-or-treating with our life group in their neighborhood. Many sleepless nights have caused memory loss for me, and I had the wrong time so we were very late. We met up with the group for the last few houses. It was a big group of kids and Grayson loved it. The kids all gave Grayson pieces of their own candy so he could catch up in his stash. What sweet and generous kids! I've never seen that many kids all willing to part with their own candy! It was so much fun watching him have such a great time. He was so excited about the night that he had been practicing trick-or-treating at home.

We walked back to the house with the group to say good-bye, and we decided we'd go on to a few more houses before going home. We thought Grayson had to go to the bathroom, so we went inside. Once we were in the bathroom he said, "I don't have to go! I don't have to go! I don't..." and then he threw up all over himself, myself, the floor and the toilet! His poor face looked so panicked.  He'd never thrown up like that before, and we didn't see it coming at all. Grayson had been a little quiet, but not acting sick. Well, we didn't go to any other houses but rushed back home. I had Grayson hold a plastic container the whole way home...just in case. Luckily it was a one time thing!

We know we'll never forget this Halloween!
