How has a month gone by already? I cannot believe it's already been a month since we celebrated Makenna's half birthday. This last month has been so much fun! Makenna is an amazing seven month old. Her personality is coming out so much, and I just adore it!
She is very observant and somewhat quiet when there's a lot going on around her, but when you sit down with her she just talks and talks. Her smiles come quick and often. You can just watch her soaking in everything around her and learning more every day.
Her face LIGHTS up when she sees Adam come home in the evening. She watches everything her brother does, and he loves that.
Makenna loves "reading" books and pats each page. She also loves toys with pieces she can put into her mouth. Everything goes in her mouth these days since she just got her first tooth.
She doesn't mind the headbands I love to put on her. She never even tries to pull them off. I love that.
Makenna is growing a lot and is now wearing some 6 month clothes that mostly fit a little tight. I just pulled out her 9 month clothes and those fit a little big but are more comfortable. She's wearing size 3 diapers.
This girl loves to eat! She eats solid food at lunch and dinner. Prunes, pears, peaches and peas are staples since she's had trouble with constipation since adding solid food into her diet. She also eats acorn squash, ground turkey, apple, banana, carrots, oatmeal cereal, sweet potato and avocado. She can eat a lot of it too. We always used to joke that Grayson's big expense would be his food and Makenna's would be her wedding...well we may need to rethink that! Ha!
I just can't say enough about how sweet Makenna's personality is! She is full of smiles and cuddles. She reached out for me the first time this month, and now reaches out of her car seat regularly. She loves to sit in your lap to cuddle and talk. I could do that all day!
She traveled in an airplane for the second time this month and did great. She is so content that she's happy to go along just about anywhere. She doesn't like to lose sight of me though. She's ok going to the nursery at church, but if we're at home together she wants to be right next to me.
Sleep is still something we're working on. She's not eating in the night anymore, but she still wakes up at least two times a night wanting me to soothe her with her paci. We're trying sleep training, but it doesn't seem to be catching on very quickly. She also hates sleeping in the pack and play. Since we've spent time at the cabin, in Arizona and at Camp Casey this month...that has been very hard. She usually ends up sleeping in her car seat which she loves, but that will only work for so much longer.
Most mornings she wakes around 6:30am. I love this time with her because it's a chance for me to get sweet one on one time with my girl. We cuddle up in the family room and have a little play time after I feed her. She loves laying on a quilt in front of the fireplace while I do my bible study in the morning too. She's ready to go back to sleep around 7:30. Then I get ready and Grayson wakes up about 8ish and I get special time with my boy. I love our morning routine.
Her favorite song is still The Itsy Bitsy Spider. Grayson loves to sing it to her. His favorite is to rap it for her. It's very funny...she thinks so too.
Makenna also loves to dance. Most days we have music playing in the house and will often have mini dance parties during the day. She loves to dance with me, but we can also get big smiles from her when Grayson and I do silly dances for her.
She sits in her highchair now to eat, but still uses the bumbo chair to sit in while I make dinner. She's just about too big for it though. Grayson loves to pick out toys for her to play with, and he likes to sit right next to her.
Makenna is sitting up on her own, but hasn't made any effort towards crawling. I'm ok with that! She loves patting her hands, and has said "dada" but not in relation to Adam so I don't think it counts as her first work yet.
Makenna is such a content and happy baby. She is full of smiles and just downright beautiful.
