My First Mother's Day

I have always had so much respect for my mom. She is a strong woman who loves the Lord. She is an example to me of what a wife, mom, sister and friend should be. She loves my sister and I unconditionally, and I have never doubted that for a second in my life. She always has a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. She is willing to go to battle for us or to share a good laugh. She has given up countless hours of sleep to help us work on school projects or to pray for our safe return from a night out. She is a role model to me in so many ways. Now that I am a mom myself, I feel like I finally have a deeper understanding of the love she has for my sister and I.
My first Mother's Day was so much fun! We went to church with my parents, and Grayson went to the nursery. He's come to really love it in there, and I don't feel nervous at all about leaving him there. After church we all met up with Katelyn and Kerry for brunch at the Maltby Cafe. If you live in the Seattle area, you MUST try their breakfast! Let me just say this...a warm, gooey cinnamon roll, the size of a dinner plate. Oh my goodness yum! After brunch Nana and Papa spent time with Grayson while Adam and I hauled one last load over to our new house. Whew! It felt so good to finally be done with moving! My grandparent's came over for dinner. My Grandpa has Alzheimer's, and has trouble communicating now. I love watching him with Grayson. No words are need to make Grayson smile, so Papa Dick was cooing and smiling at G all evening. It was really special to watch.
Being a mom is incredible, and it is a blessing that I don't take for granted. My prayer is that God would give me the wisdom and strength to raise Grayson as He wants me to.
