He's now eating it almost every day, and he cannot get enough of it! Although his doctor said it would be too bland, Grayson seems to like it most when it's mixed with just water. He will eat it mixed with apple juice or breast milk, but with water...oh boy, he gobbles it down.

I think the rice cereal must be at least partially responsible for the longer naps he's been taking. Also, Grayson has been doing a lot better with sleeping at night since we started using the cry-it-out method. A typical night for him has been going to bed at 7pm, usually followed by a dream feed at 10pm. Sometimes he'll wake up around 1:30am, and will cry for a little while before falling back to sleep. However, we're getting to the point where he'll only wake up around 4:30am for a feeding, and then wake up for the day at 7am. The next step is getting rid of that 4:30am feeding.
All of you moms out there, do you have any recommendations for a super absorbent disposable diaper for G to wear at night? I'm having trouble getting him to sleep any longer than 4:30am without leaking out of his diaper. Once his jammies get wet there's no hope in getting him to sleep without a diaper change. Right now he's in Huggies snug and dry diapers. I'd love your input. :)
First of all, how CUTE is he?! I love that he is an eater :) About the diapers...at that age, our kids wet so much (this slows down considerably at night as they get older before they start staying dry somewhere around age two) that we had to change their diaper at the 10pm feeding for sure and then they would sleep until 7 or 8 am and be okay. I don't know if you are doing this already, since he is probably 'dream feeding' and its tempting to just let him fall back asleep, but for us, it was just a must. If you are already changing him and still he is wetting, I'd say its the diaper brand. Huggies ALWAYS leak for us...always. and they had a weird smell too that really bugged me. We use cloth during the day, but disposables over night and have always used the Costco Kirkland diapers with great success. Also, for little boys, pointing that wee-wee down is a biggie, or else they end up getting wet through any gaps in the diaper as they move in the night...sorry this is so long! Love you!
ReplyDeleteFisher would soak through his diapers during the night at this age--I was getting really tired of washing his sheets everyday! We were using Huggies or cloth diapers during the day but at night, I switched to Pampers Overnights--they worked a little better, seem to be a little more absorbant. But, they fit a little different--not as stretchy/form fitting as Huggies so, Pampers did not work during the day when he was moving around so much.
ReplyDeleteKiss that cute little guy for me!
I have to agree, Huggies ALWAYS leaked for us. I literally threw mine away and switched to Pampers. I "heard" (not even sure where) that the Costco Kirkland brand is actually made by Huggies (all "Kirkland" products are made by SOME large company) and had leak problems too, but I never tried them so I can't say that from personal experience! I use cloth during the day but not for sleeping 11 hrs at night, and now that Ty doesn't drink as large of an amount right before bed, he can make it all night in the 7th Generation diapers (not quite as absorbant as Pampers/Huggies because there are fewer chemicals, etc). I just found Pampers to be the best for overnight stretches during the newborn months.
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies! I really appreciate your input! I feel so blessed to have such amazing moms in my life that I can turn to for advice. I have used the costco diapers, but I think they were a little too small. Maybe I'll try out the next size up. I'll try the Pampers overnights too. Good ideas!
