Alaska Part 3

I met Adam in college about 10 years ago. For almost that entire time he has been talking about the Crow Creek hike in Alaska. I'm not sure why, but I've never gone on it until this trip to AK. All of the stories I had heard about this hike didn't do the sheer beauty of the mountain justice. It was incredible and beyond words.
We left Grayson at home with Joan, and Stan, Adam and I made the trek out to Crow Creek in Girdwood. This is the view from about 2/3 up the climb.

Little known fact about me is that I have a fear of heights. That being said, this hike was a challenge for me. It was a steep climb that often times left us scrambling over small rocks. By the time I reached the top I had a brief moment of accomplishment over conquering my fear...but then I quickly realized I'd have to turn right around and conquer that fear again on the way down. Yikes! Even though it was at times out of my comfort zone, I am still very happy that I went on this hike.
This was a side trail we took over to a gorgeous waterfall. Obviously I didn't go all the way over to the falls...I stayed clutching the rock wall behind me, content to use my zoom lens to capture photos of the falls!

This was at the top of the hike. The temperature dropped as we climbed, and at the top we all felt chilly.
At the top, a small cabin sits steps away from a glacier fed lake.

On the way back down.

The colors on the mountain were incredible. Bright read, yellows and green covered the mountainside.

After the hike, we were treated to a delicious meal at Adam's favorite restaurant which just happens to be down the road from the trail head. Double Musky. Jalapeno Cheese Bread. Enough said.

We played lots of corn hole.

Shooting hoops. The neighbor boys came over. G loved playing with them and watching the big kids on their bikes.

Love this sweet photo!

Watching Grandpa clean the gutters. :)

Exploring the woods behind the house. His first attempt at climbing a tree. At home he has been literally trying to climb the walls. He'll start trying to step up onto the wall, and say, "Climb wall!". Ummm....not sure where he learned that one!

He saw Joan washing the dishes and wanted to help.

Starting keeping track of how tall Grayson is in the garage.

Flying home. We were all tired from a fun trip, and G was much more mellow on the way home.
He colored a lot...
and watched Sesame Street dvds we'd checked out from the library before we left.

We had such a great time in Alaska! Thank you Stan and Joan for a fun trip!
