Playing Hookie!

We woke up Sunday morning and as we sat together over breakfast, we decided we would play hookie from church and go on an adventure as a family. We drove down to Seattle, hopped on the ferry and made the trek to Bainbridge Island.
It was a gorgeous day, so after lunch we walked along the marina checking out the boats and searching for sea life.
Grayson was hesitant about the holes between the slats of the boardwalk. He stopped a lot to tiptoe over them just in case there was danger of falling in!

We walked through town a little bit, but my pregnancy waddle kept us from going too far. We set out in search of a beach we'd visited years ago. After a longer drive than we remembered...we found it.
Grayson had a blast finding shells, rocks and getting wet while jumping the waves.

He collapsed in the sand to soak in the sun.

If you look closely here you can see sand in his hair, on his face, up his nose and in his mouth. It had officially become bath night.

We missed the ferry by just moments, so we had to entertain ourselves during out wait. Grayson decided to tell stories and blow bubbles at his daddy.

It was Grayson's first time on the ferry, and he was very excited about it. He was looking for whales here.

I loved our family day on the island. So fun!
