Tomatoes on the Windowsill

Tomatoes on the windowsill will forevermore remind me of my Grandma Lily. Our last conversation was about tomatoes. She was asking about my home, and I told her about all of the beautiful tomatoes I had growing in our yard this year. We talked about our mutual love for tomatoes. Just a slice of tomato sprinkled with salt and pepper.

Grandma then told me about picking the green tomatoes when the weather turned colder and placing them on my windowsill to ripen. Adam and Grayson gathered all of the green tomatoes from our yard once we felt fall in the air. As I placed them in a row beside my kitchen sink, I was reminded of my Grandma...as I will be every year I bring my green tomatoes inside in the fall.
