Then I was up all night with a stomach virus that left me feeling like I'd been run over my a Mack truck. I felt terrible as I called my mom to cancel our well thought out plans. Instead of being pampered, she picked up Grayson and cared for him all day while I lay wrapped in three blankets in front of the fireplace. What an amazing Mama I have.
We ended up rescheduling the brunch for the next week (once my Mom, Dad, Adam and Makenna had all gotten over the virus I so generously shared with them!).
Portage Bay. French Toast. Toppings Bar.
Do I need to say more? Not really. Well...maybe...Pepper bacon.
Yes, I was in heaven. Grayson and I shared our meal, so I did have an excuse for loading up so many toppings. As I walked back to our table from the toppings bar I heard a man at another table say, "Wow. Now that's how you do it right!". Haha...yes it was delicious, and yes I ate a lot.
That smile on his face says it all. He was in heaven.
The birthday girl and my sister.
Christian loved my blackberries. Yum!
Makenna tried to make a quick grab at the french toast. I think she would have tried to get it in her mouth if I hadn't stopped her!
We went for a walk through the locks after brunch.
Grayson loved watching the birds dive for fish in the rushing water.
We went underground to check out the fish ladder. We saw a couple tiny fish, but I want to come back when the fish are really coming through there. I let Grayson make a smushed penny. He thought that was pretty cool.
Happy birthday Mama! I'm glad we were able to celebrate with you, even if it was a few days late!
