The Big 3-0

This year I turned thirty. I love it. It's going to be a good year. God has blessed me richly and I have been loving seeing how his story for my life is unfolding. I knew I wanted to do something extra special for this big birthday. I had read recently about a woman who did thirty random acts of kindness for her thirtieth, and I loved the idea. Adam and my mom got together and planned the random and very fun day.

First stop was Starbucks...

We pulled up to a drive through and told the barista we'd like to buy for the people behind us. She smiled and said, "Are you sure?". It turns out that the people in the car had ordered three or four the largest, most expensive drinks possible. Haha! Oh well, we were starting off being extra kind!

Next stop(s) fudgesicles...

We drove around and delivered fudgesicles to some friends of ours. They were all really surprised and loved the cold treat on the warm day.

The next stop was Costco. My parents met up with us  at this point. We walked around and returned carts for people in the parking lot. I had someone do this for me once, and the small gesture meant a lot when I was wrangling two kids. This one took us a little more out of our comfort zone since we were approaching total strangers.

We took a break for lunch at Qdoba and were joined by Katelyn, Kerry and Christian. We took queso sauce and chips over to a friend's house for our next act of kindness.

Sweet pea fell asleep.

The next stop was to bring cheetos and Snickers ice cream bars to a pregnant friend. Helping satisfy pregnant cravings is truly an act of kindness. :)

We all needed a break from driving, so we stopped at a park for some play time. Makenna went in a swing for the first time and LOVED it.

Grayson was excited to push her in the swing. I think he wanted to push her a little higher than I allowed though.

How cute is this boy?! He loved showing off his climbing moves to Nana and Papa.

My love. He worked so hard to put this fun day together. I am blessed.

Our next stop was to deliver more queso and chips to another pregnant friend. It was the day before she was being induced. I told her she could decide if she would share it with her family...she decided not to share. :)

Next stop was Pike Place Market. We walked around  and bought some beautiful flowers. We divided the bunch into two bouquets and told Grayson he needed to find someone to give them to. The first bouquet went to a lady who was on a carriage ride with her husband/boyfriend. Grayson looked tiny as he held up the bouquet and asked if she would like some flowers. She loved them and was completely surprised.

The next bouquet went to a lady having coffee with friends in Starbucks. Grayson walked in and immediately said that he wanted to give flowers to her. It made her day...maybe her week. She even asked to take a picture with Grayson. She was from out of town and said that this just made her trip so very special. The lady with the hat on was having a birthday next week, and she decided that she would do the same thing for someone on her birthday. Pay it forward!

We ended the night being joined by Alex and Kellie and had a feast and gifts at my parent's house. It was such a fun and memorable day. The perfect start to my thirtieth year.

On my actual birthday, my parents took the kids and Adam and I went out on a date. We had dinner at Volterra in Ballard, which was followed by dessert at Hot Cakes. Such amazing food. Such a good birthday.
