Fourth of July weekend was a wild one this year. We went up to the lake with my family. It was wild because the main event of the weekend was celebrating at my cousin's wedding. It was such a beautiful day...but more on that later.
The first order of business was relaxing and playing. We took the kids, along with my dad, up to the golf course. Grayson gets a kick out of playing around on the putting green. Makenna was content to pat the grass and watch.
Working on his form.
Looking good. Kind of a big swing for a putting green though. Look out!
That smile!
Hanging out with Papa.
The lake was incredible. This lake is known for being very windy, but this summer we have been blessed with very little wind and calm beautiful water.
On the fourth, we went into Leavenworth. They had some fun games set up for the kids. Grayson played a tossing game and made a fun hat that he was very proud of. That night was windy on the lake, but we still saw a few neighbors lighting off some fireworks. We were just saying a few prayers that embers didn't fly our direction!
On Friday I went into town to help set up for my cousin's wedding, and then we had the rehearsal that night. It was the first time that Grayson was in a wedding. He was excited but also very nervous about it. The staff didn't really offer him much help so the rehearsal didn't go very well. For the big day my other cousin, who was a groomsman, helped control the ringbearers up front at the ceremony. Grayson did great. His pockets were filled with Smarties. The moment that the candy was gone however, he looked up at my cousin and said, "I can't take this anymore!". Then he walked back up the aisle. Haha! Oh well. He did pretty good considering the circumstances.
Here's the little man before the big event.
The rest of the cute family.
Due to some rather strange events, I ended up helping the photographer with getting pictures taken after the ceremony. Adam was amazing and took over watching both kids. Things went fine until the chair Grayson was sitting in tilted backwards and he fell over a rock retaining wall. He was really shaken up, but otherwise ok. I finished with helping and took Makenna who quickly fell asleep in my arms. Moments later Adam came up saying that we had to go...Grayson had fallen into the water feature. He was soaked from head to toe. So, the night ended early. It was a beautiful wedding, and I'm thankful we were able to be a part of it.
It was all playtime at the lake from there on. I put an old pack and play on the beach for Makenna, and Grayson had a blast playing in the water and digging next to his sister.
Hanging out with the big boys.
Oh dear. I think his new swim trunks are a little too big around the waist. We have a plumber in the making!
Doing the "Grandpa Dance". His favorite.
Lounging.
Overall it was a really fun weekend at the lake. I'm so very thankful to have this place.
