The original plan was for Grayson to be a corn hole game board for Halloween. He loves the game, and we thought it would be a creative costume. I made the costume, beanbags and all, but when it came time to try it on...Grayson would have nothing to do with it! I made one final attempt at getting the little man to try on his costume by cutting out arm holes. Well, he put it on but now he looked like a corn hole robot since he wouldn't lower his arms.
On to Plan B...we raided my parent's dress up box. I dug out a
bumblebee costume that is very special. It was the costume I wore when I was little, and it was handmade by my mom. Even the original antennas were found. I re-dipped the antennas in gold glitter and stuffed the costume full of every plastic bag I could find in our house, and we had ourselves the most darling little bumblebee I have ever laid eyes on!
We went down to the Mill Creek Town Center for a little trick-or-treating. We had gone last year, but this was the first time that Grayson would be able to participate in the gathering of candy.
Checking out his reflection in the parking lot before his big debut at the town center.
We went into Starbucks while we waited for family to arrive...and we quickly left. This little bee was acting as though he'd eaten his way through a bag of candy (even though he hadn't had even one lick!).
Much more room to roam (and buzz and fly and jump and run) outside.
The happiest little bee. He had no idea what was going on, but he was thrilled to be given gifts (aka candy) at every store front.
CANDY! The one thing we forgot was a bag for all his candy. We improvised and used Nana's purse. He'd get the candy, turn and slam dunk the candy into her purse.
Pointing out the moon at the end of the night. Grayson's love of the moon has continued. Once he sees it I think he'd be content watching it all night. He has also started counting stars!
After getting a good candy stash, we went back home and shared chili with my parents (a Halloween tradition in my family). And, I'll admit it, Adam and I ate Grayson's candy. Maybe next year we'll let him eat his stash...we'll see. :)
