House Tour - Grayson's Room

I have been dreaming about this series of posts for awhile now. While I love sharing the details of my daily life with sweet baby G, I have also been wanting to share the details of our home. I've decided to start by sharing Grayson's room. I wish I had created tutorials for all of the crafty projects found in this space!
All of the main pieces for this room we found on Craigslist for a steal, and the bumpers were made by the oh so creative Lissy Stuart. You can read more about it here. The "GRAYSON" letters are cardboard letters from Joann's that I wrapped in strips of coordinating fabric and covered in a layer of mod podge glue. I used that same fabic to make the bunting garland hanging in the corner.
A view from Grayson's crib.
The dresser doubles as a changing table for now, but it's a piece that he'll be able to use for years. These lamps were salvaged from my family's cabin. I loved the vibrant blue color, and the vintage funkiness. (Yes, I said funkiness. I've decided it's a new word.) The lamps were the jumping off point for the color scheme of the nursery. The "G" is actually an ornament that Adam and I picked up while walking laps at the mall trying to go into labor. The antique canning jar was a gift from my grandma and originally belonged to my great-grandma. It's filled with puzzle pieces that I sprayed out in white paint. A fun little detail.
The fall breezes can make our house a little cold at times. I made a few of these draft dodgers to help keep the cold from coming in the windows. I simply wrote the words with a sharpie, sewed a long "pillow", filled it with rice and closed it up.
The ribbon mobile is still a big hit. Grayson is learning "gentle touch" and loves to wave his hands over the ribbons.
You can read more about these darling paintings here.
What a sweet baby!
Here is G's reading nook. One of Grayson's favorite toys are his books. He loves to read! The book shelves are actually picture frame shelves from Ikea. The picture frame above the shelves is filled with images from books used at a shower my mom and sister threw for me.

A piece of Grayson's bumper fabric, a card from Grandma and a picture of G's two week old baby toes.
I sprayed out the glass in a frame with chalkboard paint...instant blank canvas for creativity.
A bookshelf in the corner contains a plethora of board books and stuffed animals. The top shelf is filled with mementos from three generations of childhoods.
When Grayson was about 10 days old I made these impressions of his feet. I put them in a vintage frame on a background of woven fabric from the other fabric projects in the room.

So there you go! Welcome to Grayson's room!

  4. I am due October 10th with my own little Grayson Lewis! I saw your block letters picture on Google Image and I just love them! Did you use the mod podge to coat over top of the fabric or use to make the fabric stick, like glue? Email me at UKCAT247@yahoo.com If you don't mind!!
